I am a Ph.D chemist originally from Texas who moved to California to attend UC Berkeley as a graduate student.
Since I was in college, I had dreams of becoming a university professor. The subject that most intrigued me was organic chemistry. When I tell that to other people, their response is usually, "But its SO HARD!" At which point I exclaim, "Not if you really understand whats going on!"
As humans, we are prone to treat learning a new subject, such as organic chemistry, as a memorization game. When in reality, the real art of learning and understanding organic chemistry comes from learning the fundamental concepts of what is happening in those flasks of chemicals swirling around in the fume hood. My approach to teaching organic chemistry is to remove the memorization aspect of this subject so that even if you forget what a certain reagent does, or when presented with a rather complex synthesis problem, you can rely on the fundamental concepts of organic chemistry to figure it out!
Oh, and in my spare time in college I taught dance! I'm a talented singer and dancer who has taken salsa lessons throughout high school, and even taught a dance club during college. So if you are looking to expand your mind as well as show off on the dance floor, I'm the perfect tutor for you!
