I'm a responsible 22-year-old just graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Human Biology with a concentration on Global Public Health. I have recently moved to San Francisco and I would like to offer my services as a tutor in various subjects; Math, Biology, Physiology, Physics, English and Grammar, Spanish and ACT or SAT preparation.
I received the following scores before entering college in 2009:
ACT Composite: 32
I've had experience tutoring in most of the above subjects, but have also gained valuable insight into useful tutoring methods as a student who has utilized the effective tutoring programs at Stanford. I've also had experience tutoring a diverse range of students from high school students in math to custodial staff on Stanford's campus in English.
I've also spent 3 months studying in Madrid, Spain and have improved my Spanish ability through this experience.
I am patient and believe in guiding the student through critical thinking questions, rather than presenting the answer immediately. I also provide tips and suggestions for better studying habits
I am willing to work with the student to agree on a tutoring experience that would be most beneficial. Whether the tutoring session requires review of assignments, creation of lesson plans, or focus on specific skills or subject matter, the lines of communication will be open so that we can find a tutoring session format that works best for the student. Specific goals of each session, and longer term goals will be outlined by the student and myself so that it is clear what is expected of the student, and me as a tutor.
I also believe that enthusiasm for a subject only enhances understanding, so I will strive to create a positive atmosphere during each tutoring session.
I have a warm and outgoing disposition, so please contact me with any concerns or questions!
