My name is Justin, and I love tutoring math and chemistry. I graduated from Saint Mary's College of California in 2011 as a chemistry major and mathematics minor. I am currently attending the University of San Francisco for a Master's degree in chemistry. I have been a teacher's aid in high school summer school, two semesters in college, and now I have taught my own lab section of general chemistry at the University of San Francisco for the past two semesters. I have also tutored and mentored students as young as 6th grade in math and science and as old as seniors in college.
I structure my teaching philosophy from the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) technique. I do not simply give answers to students but instead formulate guided questions for them to consider on their way to discovering their own answers. I have seen this method work wonders for the students that I have taught and mentored and have discovered that it is the best way that I learn course material.
I am energetic when teaching and incorporate real life examples to tough concepts in order for students to learn faster and with more motivation. I look forward to hearing from you and to helping your student thrive in math and chemistry.
