I am a thorough, consistent, and dependable worker with a great eye for detail. My work experience began while I was an undergraduate Criminal Justice student at San Francisco State University. During my final semester, I interned at San Francisco’s Youth Guidance Center/Juvenile Hall alongside a Deputy Probation Officer. Her unit works with adolescent females ages 14-17 whose crimes range from theft to armed robbery. This experience led me to purse a career in the Criminal Justice/Law field including working with adolescents. In July 2004, I began working as a youth counselor at a boys academy. I supervised and interacted with males ages 13-18 during their daily activities including being a teacher's assistant during school hours.
I have also recently worked as a youth clinical case manager with the Center on Juvenile and Criminal Justice in which I work with youth ages 13-18 years old. My duties consisted of mentoring, advocating, and connecting them with various services. In addition, I strongly supported and assisted them with their educational needs. I have also recently graduated with a Master’s in Sociology, concentration in Criminology from San Jose State University which has provided me with a desire to pursue teaching. In this program, I conducted numerous presentations and led class discussions on various subjects in this field. This has led me to become a Criminal Justice teacher which I current work as.
Both my education and work experiences have made me an excellent writer, articulate speaker, and overall knowledgeable individual. I love to learn and believe learning is about teaching others as well as learning from others as well.
