I received my GED in 2006, my Level One Tutor Certification in 2008, my BA in Philosophy and Religion in 2010 and am currently enrolled in graduate school at CIIS. I served as the tutor program student worker at WVWC for 3 years, as well as the philosophy tutor for two, and a freshman seminar leader for a semester. My tutor method follows general guidelines that can be applied to any subject and will support the development of study strategies and testing skills.
I have also served 2 summer Ameri-VistaCorps terms as an "Energy Express" mentor. Energy Express is a summer, reading, writing, art, and nutrition program for at need children in WV. I prepared lesson plans and lead a group of 8 children between ages 8-13.
As a philosopher, I can teach tutees to think critically, analyze effectively, and respond intelligibly. My tutoring style focuses on the development of intellectual skills and strategies that are crucial for academic progress and which can be adapted to both individual needs as well as a variety of disciplines. I have a natural ability to motivate others and can turn a struggling student into a successful student.
