If you are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable math tutor with lots of patience, enthusiasm, and energy, look no further. I love math but I also love working with students to help them attain their goals in math -- goals ranging from understanding algebra or overcoming math anxiety to becoming an expert at problems solving or making a high score on the SAT Math Level 2... and everything in between.
After tutoring hundreds of students in North Carolina for over 17 years, I have recently moved to the Bay Area to be near family. In addition to teaching the usual high school math subjects and SAT Math prep, I have particular experience in working with non-traditional students, homeschoolers, gifted students, and students who have math anxiety. I have taught junior high, high school, and community college, and I have developed and taught high school courses for homeschoolers. I also was a MATHCOUNTS coach for fourteen years and worked with the Charlotte Math Club for almost 20 years. I am a very patient person and enjoy working with students who have lots of questions about math.
When working with a new student, I figure out, with the student's help, where he or she began to have difficulty in the course, and then work with the student intensively to build a deep understanding of the material so he or she can become successful in the current math course and in future math courses.
If you want a tutor who genuinely cares about her students and will work hard to help you overcome your difficulties with math, please contact me.
Locations: I will meet with students anywhere in the Bay Area, with preference to San Francisco, Peninsula, or anywhere in the East Bay. I also will consider meeting with students in Marin County.
