Jeffrey: Economics, Math, and K-12 Students with Disabilities Tutor

I currently tutor a group of 4th and 6th graders at Heart For Education.
I tutor low income children for Aplus Educational Centers.. I volunteer as a tutor for Uncommon Good. I am the president of Tutor Pomona, an organization dedicated to ending poverty in Pomona by giving students the resources they need to succeed.

My degree is in ECONOMICS from Cal Poly Pomona. I was a microeconomics TA I tutor economics students from Claremont Mckenna college.

I am proficiency in all MATH up to single variable calculus. I love to help make math easy and fun for the students I teach. I tutor in many subjects. Feel free to ask for more information. I tutor all grade levels.

I have worked professionally with students who have DISABILITIES for 3 plus years. I specialize in using assistive technology to help students with learning disabilities succeed. I'm currently getting my teaching credential in special education.

I have many techniques for helping students with learning disabilities. I was diagnosed with several learning disabilities at a young age. I know first hand how to over come many of the challenges facing students. I have a range of knowledge about alternate media which is something that even many RSP teachers do not use fully. Even in the last 2 years many new tools have come out. I have the most experience with ASPERGERS, ADD, ADHD, and VISUAL disorders.

Helping students succeed is a rewarding experience. It is the reason I tutor.

Economics

I have a degree in economics. My core GPA was 3.30. I have been a TA in microeconomics. Economics is one of my favorite subjects to tutoring.

Elementary (K-6th)

I worked as an assistant coach for K-6th grade for over 8 years. I am great with kids. I have tutored in math and reading.

I worked as an assistant for student with disabilities at Allen Avenue Elementary. I helped students improve their reading speeds and comprehension through timed reading exercises.

Special Needs

I have worked in the Disabilities Resource Center at Cal Poly Pomona for over 3 years. I have helped students with sever visual impairments, dyslexia, Aspergers, high functioning autism, sever anxiety, bipolar disorder, and depression. I have worked with students with other disabilities but due to privacy laws I do not know every type of disability I have worked with.

Aspergers

When I was younger I was diagnosed with ADHD, other disorders and finally Aspergers when I was 8. While I no longer believe that these diagnoses completely fit me I have gone through a range of training to overcome my disability. I was in sensory integration, Special Ed classes, social training, and a range of other treatments.
