Grammar

English grammar, fueled by its rich history of contributing languages, is a great source of enjoyment for me. I have enjoyed rewriting tutoring homework for the many aspects of learning processes and students' comprehension abilities. Mastery has its rewards,including creative and powerful expression, clarity, and reading enjoyment.

Elementary (K-6th)

Preschool through college tutoring has been a joy for many years. Learning center students and those recommended by their teachers make up the majority of my clients. From difficulty reading, to study skills and test prep - writing, grammar, and reading is my forte. As a former magazine bureau chief, and a current crime-beat news reporter, I enjoy seeing students develop mastery of their subjects. I look forward to helping achieve academic success.

Phonics

I have been tutoring Phonics for over 10 years. The elementary school teachers ask me to assist them with challenged students - which has been my pleasure to contribute. Seeing students enjoy learning is a great experience.

Study Skills

Study skills which boost comprehension and retention are key to academic success. Identifying topics, developing key word and test-taking strategies will give students confidence in the classroom as well as during independent study.

Flute

The flute has been a source of enjoyment for me for many years, from orchestra, marching band, concert band, to solo opportunities and teaching. The academic aspects of music as well as the sheer enjoyment of performing has been a true gift in my life, and I enjoy helping others explore the rich rewards of music as they reach their potential.
