As a child, I had several surgeries on my leg to correct a length discrepancy I was born with. I missed numerous days of school while I was in the hospital, and never would have passed the third grade without the help of a tutor. This disadvantage has made me aware of the importance a tutor can have in the success of one's education.
In college I spent a year in Mexico while earning my Bachelor’s degree. I volunteered at my University to help fellow students with their English and in exchange they helped me with my Spanish. It was a truly rewarding experience and I met some fantastic people!
While receiving my certification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL), I tutored an adult who had emigrated from Mexico and wanted to improve his English. Over the course of a 6 month period we regularly met in the public library and were able to significantly improve his English, as well as his confidence in speaking it. He felt comfortable with me since I speak Spanish and was able to communicate with him in his first language. Having learned a second language myself, I am familiar with the challenges and obstacles a learner of a new language faces.
I am currently looking to build my tutoring experience so that I can teach English abroad. Whether you need help with reading, writing, grammar, conversational skills or homework I am confident that I can help. So let’s embark on this journey of learning together!
