I have wide-ranging experiences in different areas of fitness, teaching and research. I have extensive classroom experience through summer work at the University of the Pacific in the Jose Valdez Math Institute as a teaching assistant, where I helped instruct students in the community performing poorly on standardized testing. I also have essential teaching knowledge because I am the head Systems & Human Physiology tutor at Pacific Union College (PUC).
Through my position as a research assistant in the PUC Biology Department, I presented the effects of different hormones on rats via intravenous injections and EKG monitoring to prospective students during our “College Days” visits. The classes I have taken at PUC required a research component where entire experiments were designed and conducted although not published in peer-reviewed literature. These experiments have exposed me to exercise testing in areas from body composition to EKG and blood glucose monitoring.
Lastly, through my position as supervisor of the PUC Weight Room/Fitness Center I have gained strong gym management, organizational, leadership, technical and interpersonal skills. I have many hobbies that I learned through collegiate participation and or classes, these activities include olympic lifting, rowing, ultimate frisbee, martial arts, dance instruction and choreography.
