I am a recent graduate of San Diego State University with my B.A. in Linguistics, minoring in Arab and Islamic Studies. I earned my TESL/TEFL Certificate from SDSU in 2013 and volunteered at a local high school alongside an ESL teacher for 4 months. I have been working as a tutor for SAT and ACT test preparation, English, math (through trigonometry), linguistics, and study skills for 4 years, and I love working one-on-one with students of all ages as they learn and develop skills.
My tutoring style is very flexible, as I believe every person has his/her own unique learning style. As I work with a student or group of students, it is important to me to learn their style and our dynamic so that I can assist rather than hinder their learning. When working on a subject, I believe it is important to identify the primary issues with my students and work on those issues, rather than approaching the subject at large.
For the past four years, I have also worked as a nanny for children from newborn to elementary school age and also volunteered with a middle school youth program, so I am very comfortable interacting with students of all ages.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I hope to have the opportunity to work together!
