I am a Math Major at SD Mesa CC in San Diego CA. At the moment I have only completed Trigonometry and Precalculus so far but received A's in both of those subjects. I also have been working at Kumon as a grader/tutor in Math and Reading for about one year. Through Kumon in part but mostly through my own pursuit of Math I have developed my own methods of teaching Math. The main method I use is through heavy use of examples and repetition people can get better at Math. Getting good at Math takes time but I believe anyone can do it. Most Math books are written very well and provide most of the examples, but if they are not good enough I make my own examples. I also try to be very positive with the students I work with and make sure that they do not doubt themselves which makes math that much harder.
In terms of Math subjects I am good at, I am very comfortable with teaching very beginning math such as counting through Precalculus and can help. It has been a long time since I have taken the SAT and I never took the ACT, but I can tutor in those subjects as well.
Through Kumon this year I tutored a student who was in Algebra II and getting a D and through helping him prepare for his Midterm and Final he got a B in the class.
In conclusion, I really enjoy tutoring kids in Math because it makes me better at Math.
