I am a University of California, San Diego graduate from Revelle College with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with concentrations in literature/writing, Spanish, and dance. I have been teaching children and adults of all ages for nine years. Growing up I was a competitive figure skater and began teaching skating in high school. I also studied classical ballet and piano and taught both, as well as gymnastics, in and after college. I continue to teach dance today at a studio and perform in the studio's shows. I also compose piano music and have an original CD available on iTunes and other stores.
As a teacher I am patient, understanding, and compassionate. I am also very detail oriented, thorough, and organized. I do not like to waste time and am strict but not mean. I am flexible about how strict I am depending on what the situation calls for. I do not use fear as a motivational tool; instead I strive to create a safe environment where students can ask questions and develop respect for not only me as the teacher but also the learning process. I use positive reinforcement to promote learning and encourage students to embrace their individual learning style rather than conforming to something that does not work for them.
