I am currently a graduate student completing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at AIU-CSPP in San Diego. I have extensive experience with at-risk, special needs and learning challenged individuals. I have worked in a variety of settings including crisis facilities and shelters with both children and adults. I understand the challenges that families confront in working with children that have learning and behavioral difficulties. Structure and patience are key skills that I bring to help build the child's self esteem, and the parent's confidence. I believe providing the needed support can foster lasting change that breeds success, academic and otherwise. I believe this can also be applied to adults, as we all need support and guidance during challenging times in our journey. I am currently teaching parenting education to those mandated to complete a course or for those who simply want to learn a new way.
I have my Master's in Clinical Psychology and have completed all my course work which includes: child/adol. abnormal psychology, adult abnormal psychology, testing and measures, family therapy, DSM diagnosis, cultural comp., and law/ethics. As part of my degree I have also completed a practicum and several internships. I am currently completing my qualitative dissertation on the experience of Latino mothers parenting a child with ADHD.
If you feel I would be a good fit to work with either yourself or your child, feel free to contact me with further questions.
