Political Science and History are two of my biggest passions! I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science with a minor in History. After graduate school, I plan on teaching Political Science at the college level. A lot of my free time is dedicated to reading books and periodicals on the above topics.
I learned at a very young age that I enjoy tutoring others. Starting in elementary school, I would help other students with their coursework and enjoyed leading study groups. Seeing other people become comfortable and knowledgeable about what they are studying is very rewarding to me.
Teaching History is not as easy as people think. Unfortunately I know what it is like to have boring History teachers. Effectively teaching History means you help kids connect the dots and show them why events happened in the order that they occurred. Telling interesting stories and making History relevant to student's lives is more effective than memorizing dates and writing a time-line on the board. Teaching Political Science is much the same. Students must know how politics affects their lives. Giving specific examples on how organizations and power structures work is always more effective than rote memorization.
During our first meeting we will determine the most efficient way that you learn. Some people enjoy visual representations while others like reading or writing to retain information. We will subsequently build a plan from there.
I look forward to working with you and seeing the light bulb go on in your head.
