I am a graduate of California State University, Fullerton, with a Bachelor's in history. I have a strong passion for academics, the learning environment, and helping others. I have a broad knowledge base with experience in several disciplines, but my focus is mainly modern world history and writing. Throughout my years on college campuses, I have tutored several students in all forms of coursework, assisted professors with editing assignments, and organized research projects. During those same years, I tutored several high school and junior high school students in my social and family networks. I also possess a substantial understanding of language arts, reading comprehension, math, and social sciences, which are derived from over 160 undergraduate course units. I am constantly evolving and striving to be at my best so that a student may be at his or her best.
My tutoring methods revolve around finding the student's best learning methods or styles, adapting, and finding a connection between the material and the student's personal interests or experiences. It is this connection that is absolutely vital in creating a deeper understanding. I strongly encourage and promote critical thinking and analytical approaches. My methods will not only allow a student to master current material, but develop methods of approaching difficult coursework in the future and provide the confidence to tackle new information.
All the best,
Mike
