Hello! I teach students in Grades 5 and 6 in a special day classroom. I also have general education kids who join my class for language arts and math intervention instruction. I help my students increase their confidence in school by identifying their strengths and interests. Through these intrinsic motivators, I help them set short and long term goals. We break what is difficult into simple achievable steps. It is not a matter of just learning a concept, but understanding, applying, and retaining what is learned. Therefore, a variety of learning materials- creative or typical - may be used in the teaching and learning process. We celebrate every achievement no matter how small. The best reward for me is when I see pride in students when he or she starts to tackle what was once an impossible task with the confidence that he or she will achieve their goal.
