I have a decade of training, teaching and tutoring experience. I have successfully worked with: children in elementary school learning science, math, and language arts; high school students preparing for AP tests and working through basic math. I have particular training in phonics and early readers. I also have over 6 years of experience teaching at the college level. I hold a Ph.D. in which I studied a range of subjects including philosophy, ethics, and social theory (sociology).
I approach tutoring as a chance to help students succeed. I understand that each student has particular strengths and particular learning styles that work for them. I am skilled at identifying and building on those strengths and finding creative ways to help foster a love of learning while mastering content. I am a patient and encouraging tutor that believes in her students and finds joy helping them learn to believe in themselves.
