Tutoring in high school and college accounting

I am patient and will help you with accounting concepts from theory to account analysis to workpapers and financial statement structure. I am a retired CPA with experience in both public accounting and auditing, and in private industry in areas of general accounting, personal income tax, account reconciliation and financial statement preparation while working in assistant controllership capacities.

I now enjoy working with students in many levels of accounting, helping them grasp these concepts to improve their skills. I have seen the light bulb "click" on my students' faces which is a tremendous reward for me as a teacher in this discipline.

In addition, I have extended my tutoring experience to working with the wonderful minds of elementary age students in math and writing skills. For the past six years I volunteered in the classroom assisting the teacher with math, language and writing lessons for the students, both in group environments, and one-on-one.

Reading

Patience and review of passages is critical in comprehension of reading material. I spend time in helping the student to grasp the passage within context so as to see it from a wide viewpoint. This helps to comprehend the smaller points in addition to the idea as a whole.

Accounting

I have helped students in accounting studies mostly at the college level from basic financial accounting to managerial, auditing and fund accounting. The concepts are all logical if the learning is properly structured. My students have thanked me for my clear explanations and patience in teaching.

Elementary (K-6th)

For the past six years I have volunteered in elementary class grades 3-5 assisting the teacher with math, language and writing lessons for the students, both in group environments, and one-on-one.
