I have been tutoring since the summer of 2012, and as evidenced by my ratings and testimonials, it has gone very well. My tutoring style is best characterized by my relaxed, patient, and "very pleasant demeanor". I always make a concerted effort to avoid lecturing and prefer open dialogue with my students.
I received my MS in Mechanical Engineering from UCSD. While in school, I excelled in all my coursework related to higher level mathematics, physics, and numerical modeling. I received a perfect score (800) on the math sections of both the SAT and GRE. I have been called a "translator" of complex theories when taking fluid mechanics, taking difficult terminology used to describe some physical phenomena and putting it into words that my classmates could better understand. In a strictly academic sense, I have often felt that I can more quickly grasp complicated material than most of my peers, and I always enjoyed helping my classmates excel as well.
In addition to my engineering background, I dual-majored in economics. I really enjoyed studying this field, and maintain a fairly strong grasp of the broad concepts as well as the finer points of econometrics and using supply and demand graphs to calculate consumer/producer surplus and related concepts.
If you are majoring or taking courses in engineering, economics, or another technical field such as mathematics or physics and you need some extra help, then please feel free to contact me as I am sure that I will be able to help you improve you GPA.
