I have been an English and English as a second language teacher/professor for twenty four years. I began teaching in a bilingual elementary school in Santa Ana, California, where my students were primarily limited English speakers. I taught first grade there for five years. I later began teaching English as a second language to adults in adult education and community college classrooms. I taught ESL and remedial English as an adjunct college instructor for ten years in Orange County and San Diego. I have taught at almost every community college in San Diego and Santa Ana College. I am currently a full time professor of ESL at Imperial Valley College, where I have taught for twelve years. I teach all areas and levels of English as a second language including listening and speaking, grammar and writing, reading and vocabulary, and specialized areas of English, such as verb tense, modals, phrasal verbs, sentence combining, and verbals. I am an expert in grammar and in teaching the development of basic writing and punctuation skills. I have taught students from all over the world. However, I have worked extensively with Vietnamese and Spanish speaking students. I am able to assist both native and non-native speakers of English. I can assist people of all ages, including children. I help people develop a well organized paragraph or composition, and I am also able to proofread writing for grammar, spelling, vocabulary usage, and punctuation. I am a popular instructor, who is very patient and understanding. I take great joy in helping people improve their English skills.
