I majored in Social Work-MSW because I have a passion for working and helping youth succeed. As, a kid who always had tutors, throughout college I found a hidden passion for tutoring kids. I enjoyed helping them study and get better in certain subjects. I discovered this passion while I was teaching martial arts to elementary and college age students. I remember one of my friends asking, "how do I have such patience working with kids" and I replied, " it just comes natural and I believe they will understand it just might take the student a little longer or we have to find a different way to help him/her understand."
When I moved to Hawaii, I worked as a social worker and soon realized I wanted to be around kids more. So, I applied to a small private school as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher. I was able to teach both grades in one classroom and tutor my students as needed. Following this experience, I went to Spain to learn how to teach ESL and attain a CELTA Certificate. Upon completion I moved to South Korea for one year teaching ESL to elementary students. My students in South Korea, were great and I really enjoyed working with that age group. (6-14 ).
