Greetings Parents/Students,
I have a double-major B.A. in French Language and Literature and in English Literature and Creative Writing. I also studied at the University de Besancon, France earning superior grades in French literature, philosophy, theology, and art history. I obtained my B.A. from Knox College which Newsweek Magazine listed as one of the top Liberal Arts Colleges in the country also citing its Creative Writing Program among the top ten.
I earned my M.A. through Drake University's Academic Media Scholarship in Journalism and Mass Communications. I also earned my permanent CBEST Credential -The State's CA Basic Skills Test - allowing me to be a substitute teacher in every subject from K - 12th grade.
I offer a high level of expertise in all areas of French and English - Composition, grammar, essay, literature, creative writing and poetry. My liberal arts, journalism and educational backgrounds plus work experience make me an excellent tutor in a variety of areas, such as, philosophy, biblical studies, economics, history, psychology and many other disciplines. My CBEST along with my B.A. and M.A. assure you that I am a qualified instructor and tutor.
I really love teaching students of all ages. It's a joy for me to see students do well so that they can improve their skills in any given subject and gain confidence in all areas of study. I am truly interested in piquing imagination, improving skills and seeing students earn better grades and higher self-esteem!
I am a mother of a 7th grader and I tutor from my Mission Valley home. I can also work from Founders Hall at USD or the Linda Vista or Serra Mesa Libraries. Please feel free to inquire about my methods and techniques. But, as a former instructor and journalist, I bring insight, experience, media and fun into learning. I am a highly sensitive, dedicated and friendly tutor who is engaging and approachable. My students feel comfortable learning in a structured but relaxed environment.
Thanks for your valuable time. I look forward to working with you.
Amy
P.S. Please inquire about my etiquette lessons.
