For 23 years I have lived in the Grantville area of San Diego teaching both flute and piano on the beginning and advanced levels. I teach all ages from young through adult. A large variety of method books are used and I also teach music theory as the student progresses with studies. I am an experienced recitalist and have prepared students for college auditions and write scholarship recommendations.

Besides being a music education teacher I also spent several years singing tenor with the San Diego Master Chorale and San Men's Chorus. I have also conducted the Kearney Mesa Concert Band and Seattle's Puget Sound band in concert. I have performed both as pianist and flutist on Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Holland American, and Regency cruise lines. I feel I have the experience and background to give every student a good solid musical foundation and skills needed to complete their goals.

Music Theory

I teach music theory to all piano students based on level attained and hold Bachelor of Arts with two years of theory training and composition.

Ear Training

I teach interval studies and solfege as part of my lesson process. In piano, ear training is essential in learning chord progressions and theory. Rhythmic patterns, clapping exercises, counting, and first and second year college music theory assistance. General Music

I have held certification on both the elementary and secondary school level. My experience includes having taught general music in public school. As well as having taught general music and vocal elementary music for two schools in Vermont. My Bachelor of Arts degree certainly surpasses general music training having taken coursework in both elementary and secondary school methods.

Piano

I have over 35 years of piano studies, which include formal college training on an advanced level. I studied piano with Genaro Santoro and Samuel VIviano both Masters of Science in Piano from Julliard. I have been teaching piano for past six years under my own company; in this capacity, I work with students ranging from beginning students to advanced. My students have been accepted as music majors at both Pepperdine and UCLA.

Sight Singing

Studied voice on college level. Professional vocalist. Past member of San Diego Master Choral and San Diego Men's CHorus.

Voice (Music)

Studied voice under Sandra Sliker at Johnson State. I use my tenor voice also teaching music. I am an experienced choral conductor and was a public school vocal elementary teacher in two schools. I have studied also Latin, French, Spanish and Italien lieder.

Saxophone

In high school I was a saxophone player in a jazz band. While in college I also took course in woodwind instruction. I am a flute player which also has related fingering in many ways to the saxophone. I have taught saxophone on an elementary level through intermediate level.

Flute

Hold a degree in Flute performance. Past principle flutist of San Diego County Symphony. Present first chair at Mesa College Wind Ensemble and Kearney Mesa Concert Band. Recital soloist.
