My name is Tim and my favorite areas of study are math and economics. I'm currently pursuing my masters degree in economics at San Diego State University. I moved to San Diego from my home town of Annapolis, MD after I earned my bachelors degree in economics and mathematics from St. Mary's College of Maryland in 2010. I'm passionate about helping students not only earn better grades, but helping them gain a thorough understanding of the material. Both math and economics respectively are both disciplines with many interconnected ideas. For that reason, I believe that it's not only important to focus on learning the specific topic but to be able to understand it within the context of everything else that one is learning in the course. In other words, I take a holistic view towards teaching. Understanding a topic in either discipline is most thoroughly understood within the context of other topics that are taught. And once you thoroughly understand a topic, excellent grades will follow.
I'm very patient and take as much time on a topic as necessary to ensure that my students have a solid grasp of the material. I'm an invaluable resource for my students and I'm not content until they truly understand the material.
It's incredibly important that the students I help have a sincere desire to learn the subject matter. I'll go above and beyond to help as long the student is motivated to learn. Apart from that, all I ask of my students is to respect my time by being prompt to our meetings.
I have a very busy schedule so I must require students who are going to cancel to give at least 24 hour notice.
If you're looking for a great down to earth math or economics tutor, go ahead and shoot me an e-mail and I'll get back to you that same day. I look forward to working with you!
