I am a former instructor/professor at UCSD, and I spent four years during that time teaching for one of the college writing programs. I studied and lectured in the social sciences, and can assist in a variety of social studies and history courses. In addition, I have strong training in statistics and quantitative research methods, and worked closely with students in college-level statistics and research methods courses at UCSD.
In terms of my ability to tutor students in writing and English courses, I have extensive experience in helping students improve their writing and research skills, have graded numerous college-level papers and essays, and have also assisted in the book publishing process. I can help with essay content, ideas for essay subjects, and check and improve grammar and structure. I can provide thorough instruction in writing research papers and coaching students through the research process. I am also able to provide assistance in writing for individual subject areas: English literature, social sciences, and history.
Outside of writing, I am experienced in teaching and helping students better understand and improve their coursework in a wide range of subjects: world history, American history, research methods, statistics, and politics-civics.
Finally, I can be extremely helpful when it comes to the college application process. The application essay can make or break an application, especially for students who do not have top GPAs. I can assist students in ensuring that their essays present them and their abilities in the best light possible. In addition, I can be of great help to students preparing for the ACT and SAT exams.
It gives me great satisfaction to see students finally understand a difficult concept, feel confident about their writing, actually feel as though they are enjoying the writing process, and feel they have the tools they need to succeed in their coursework. I look forward to helping you- or your son or daughter- achieve that same success and improvement.
