I hold a Professional Clear Multiple Subject teaching credential through the state of California. During the last twelve years of teaching, I have taught in Kindergarten through 6th grade classrooms in the Poway Unified School District. Some of these classrooms were Dual Language, special education, Spanish, and two grade combination classrooms. My experience includes teaching multiple subject and giving assessments such as Running Records, Individual Reading Inventory, and California Star testing.
Become familiar with different genre such as biographies, poetry, non-fiction, and short stories. Use proper parts of speech and grammar. Improve writing short response or essays. Learn to use comprehension strategies to help with reading fluency.
I am certified to teach English to learners of other languages with the CLAD emphasis on my Multiple Subject teaching credential. I have taught English language learners for eleven years now. My experience includes working with students of all ages (preschool to adult).

I am currently certified with a Multiple Subject teaching credential and have worked as a literacy support teacher in an elementary school for three years. The phonetic concepts that I help students to develop are letter name alphabetic spelling, within word patterns, syllables and affixes, and derivational relations. The practices that I use to teach phonics are through a word study approach, such as using letter symbols to letter sound associations, word and concept sorts, and rhyming.

I currently have a Multiple Subject teaching credential and have taught study skills to elementary school students. An example of the concepts covered in study skills are the use of graphic organizers, reading comprehension strategies (questioning, making connections, making inferences, and determining importance), creating visuals, creating a distraction free environment, and setting up a daily routine.

My experiences with teaching writing are well-rounded. I have helped students with expository, persuasive, and narrative essays. Many of my students have benefited with guidance in sentence and paragraph structure, along with descriptive writing assistance. I also walk my students through the process of organizing in preparation of writing.
