Teaching has always been my passion. I have been teaching for twenty years and have experience guiding students aged preschool to adult in the learning process. Many of my students and coworkers have described me as a kind, patient and creative teacher who recognizes different learning styles and develops lessons to meet the needs of each learner. This includes being able to recognize when a lesson needs to be made more challenging or simplified. It is also important to me to quickly point out successes to help promote self-confidence.
In the beginning of my career, I taught children in Pre Kindergarten at a private school. After that, I worked various years as a literacy support teacher in a local elementary school, teaching children aged Kindergarten to fifth grade in reading strategies, reading comprehension, test taking strategies, math, writing, and language arts. I was then hired by the local adult school and have taught ESL to English language learners for eleven years. Collectively, I have worked with special needs students, English learners, and elementary aged students with language arts and math skills. My teaching credential allows me to work with multiple subjects, including English as a second language (ESL) and special education. Currently, I work for San Diego Community College teaching English to English Language learners in levels from beginning to advanced.
I look forward to assisting you in the learning process. Thank you for your consideration.
