I am an old fashioned English teacher who teaches with a niche practice working with AP and honors students who need instruction in writing for class essays and for the SAT, ACT, AP LIT and AP COMP. I prepare students for honors English and work with them during the courses. I am a specialist in AP COMP and AP Literature.
I can teach any literature and teach the literature that is viewed as the best in schools. I am one of a very few people who can teach writing and who is proficient in all genres and time periods of literature.
I have years of experience creating curricula, and I know the state standards and requirements. I design individual programs to accelerate middle school students so that they will have the skills to do well in honors ninth.
The SAT has an 800 point essay in expository writing and the ACT has a persuasive essay. These require a great deal of practice in order to do well in a short time frame.
AP Composition is extremely difficult and also requires practice learning the three types of essays.
I am a career English teacher with over 25 years' experience with a specialty in teaching writing, literature, and reading. I am very experienced in teaching honors English, AP English, literature, and expository writing. I know the curriculum for honors and AP literature and teach the literature along with the writing. I have taught this curriculum for years with great success. I am also a reading specialist which allows me to teach the strategies necessary to crack the code for the critical reading in particular.

Likewise, I can provide diagnosis and remediation in areas of weakness.
I am a reading specialist and can teach pre-reading, early reading, phonics, reading comprehension.I can teach writing to get your student ready for the SAT writing section. There is a lot of grammar now on the SAT and I can review that area as well to prepare students for the PSAT/SAT, STAR, ISEE, and the AP in Literature and Composition.
I design the curriculum to meet the needs of the particular student and to remediate the areas that are weak and to enhance the areas that are strong. I can supplement home schooling with content. I am familiar with MLA and APA and teach college writing.
My schedule is flexible. I can tutor all grades including elementary, middle school, and high school. I am very effective with college students. I can help with college essays, ISEE, PSAT/SAT/STAR Prep/AP English, Honors English. I have a broad knowledge of the curriculum in literature, writing, California standards.
