I am an old fashioned English teacher who has a niche practice working with AP and honors students who need instruction in writing for class essays and for the SAT, ACT, AP LIT and AP COMP. I prepare students for honors and AP English and work with them during the courses. I am a specialist in AP Comp and AP Literature.
I can teach any literature and teach the literature that is viewed as the best in schools. I am one of a very few people who can teach writing and who is proficient in all genres and time periods of literature.
I have years of experience creating curricula, and I know the state standards and requirements. I design individual programs to accelerate or remediate students so that they will have the skills to do well in school. I work with high school students in test prep and shadowing essays. I continue with students through the college essay process.
The SAT has an 800 point essay in expository writing and the ACT has a persuasive essay. These require a great deal of practice in order to do well in a short time frame.
AP Composition is extremely difficult and also requires practice learning the three types of essays.
I am a career English teacher with over 25 years' experience with a specialty in teaching writing, literature, and reading. I design the curriculum to meet the needs of the particular student and to remediate the areas that are weak and to enhance the areas that are strong. I can supplement home schooling with content. I am familiar with MLA and APA and teach college writing.
