I have been an educator most of my life, specializing in language arts. Specifically, I have an MA in English and have taught adults and children in writing and reading strategies for over 20 years.

Most recently, I have served at an elementary school in K-3 and 6th grades, assisting students with the following: reading comprehension, writing (journals, speeches, and assignments tied to articles), phonetics, spelling and vocabulary building (high-frequency words), and math (1st and 6th grades). I am very familiar with Common Core and the teaching techniques involved with this philosophy.

Contact me if your elementary school student needs assistance. I am especially adept at working one-on-one with students in the 1-6 grades in writing short stories, documentaries, and other types of writing assignments. I would love to assist your child in becoming more proficient and comfortable with the English language.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
