I have been teaching computers at the basic and intermediate level for about five years and I thoroughly enjoy it. Computers are an integral part of everyday life and I believe that computer knowledge is vital in the highly technological world in which we live. Those who are computer literate are the ones that will be more productive and will be the contributors to society in which they live.
My teaching involves lessons about the Windows Operating System, Office desktop applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), the Internet and Web, and e:mail. With the release of the Office 2007 version, Microsoft made a major architectural departure from the older versions. My tutoring involves showing the differences between Office 2007 and the older versions. The differences are huge and knowing how to use Office 2007 puts those ahead of others and more competitive.
My teaching style and philosophy are simple. Make both the tutoring and learning experience fun and exciting and with humor thrown into the process. Humor, I strongly believe, releases those chemicals in the brain that make intellectual endeavor highly productive. I also welcome the life experiences of students as it relates to the subject matter and I look forward to learning from them as well. We all have something to share and contribute and we are all students in this journey called life.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Vocational Teaching Credential issued by the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing authorizing me to teach computer technology.
I look forward to meeting you and to share my computer knowledge with you and to learn from you as well.
Regards,
Dudley J.
