My name is Samantha and I have been private tutoring all levels of mathematics, as well as tutoring mathematics for a small company, for 5 years now. At a very young age, I realized that I not only had an unexplainable passion for math, but also that I enjoyed it. Along with my love for numbers, I've acquired a passion for teaching. In all honesty, the best reward is watching my kids have that moment where everything suddenly "clicks." After tutoring for so many years now, I've learned that adaptability is the key to any good tutor. I've worked with a wide variety of kids: ages 5-18, students who learn verbally vs. visually, kids with short attention spans, and those kids who will stop at nothing until they reach perfection. My best quality as a tutor in my opinion is being able to truly communicate with my students and find a way to connect with them.
In high school I graduated salutatorian of my class with several other leadership honors. Along with sports and extracurriculars, I took 8 AP classes including AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Language and Composition, and AP Physics. Scoring a 4 or higher on the majority of my AP tests has left me with vast knowledge on several subjects both related and unrelated to mathematics. In the coming years, I will attend the University of California, Los Angeles, as an Electrical Engineering major. In an engineering school that accepted less than 8% of its 70,000+ applicants, I'm honored to attend such a prestigious university and believe that only enforces the fact that I am extremely dedicated to the academic world and want to see this dedication in students I teach.
The only slight catch is that since I am attending UCLA, all my tutoring will be done on campus at UCLA. There are a lot of really great places where I can work well with a student in a great environment so please don't let this deter you from contacting me.
Thank you for taking the time to consider me! Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
