My name is Alex, and I'm a college student looking to help people with all their tutoring needs.

I graduated high school in 2011 and am now pursuing a Bachelor's in Computer Science. I currently attend Sonoma State University after having transferred from Solano Community College. I've taken computer science classes for Visual Basic, C#, Microsoft Access, Excel, Windows 7, as well as a basic computer science course.

While computers are my specialty, I also have a decent knowledge of the basics to all subjects. I also am quite confident in English and can tutor up to a high school level comfortably.

My weakest point is that I have no real tutoring experience. However, I am eager to help people out with what knowledge I have for a reasonable price

I am a hands-on tutor; I will often bring books or print-outs for most subjects. My goal is to not only make sure that you learn the material, but also understand it as well.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I am currently taking a college algebra and trigonometry course and have no problem with teaching anything up through algebra one.

Baseball

I played baseball for 10 years and know everything there is to know about the game, from rules to how to pitch.

Chess

I have been playing chess now for over 10 years either with real people or sometimes just against a computer online. While I know all the rules, I am only a decent player and would only be helpful to a beginner. I do not know any advanced moves nor am I even close to being a pro chess player.

Computer Programming

I know all the basics to computer programming in both visual basic and C# from classes at Solano College. I can teach you anything from how to declare a variable to creating classes.

English

I have completed up through two years of college English and can help with anything from reading, grammar, spelling, or writing a paper.

General Computer

I've taken basic computer science that includes all general knowledge of computers from the different types of internet browsers there are to more complicated things like how to use a command prompt.

Golf

I have been playing golf for 14 years and know every aspect of golf, from what clubs to use and when, to more complicated things like the golf swing.

Microsoft Access

I took a class on Access last year at Solano College and know both the basics and many advanced features to access from queries to macros.

Microsoft Excel

I took a comprehensive college course on Excel which taught me a variety of things. I know how to do a lot of things with Excel, including: various formulas and functions, charts, pivot tables, multiple-sheet management, what-if analysis, and more. I also use Excel for personal use at home to manage my finances as well as a bit at work. So you can be sure that whatever you need to use Excel for, I have experience with it.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have used Powerpoint for years, both for personal use and for school projects, and can teach anything from how to enter text to how to add music, transitions, and pictures.

Microsoft Windows

I took a Windows 7 class that taught me everything I need to know about windows. I also have been a user of Windows for years and can teach you all the ins and outs of this operating system from how to search for files to how to use the command prompt and the registry.

Microsoft Word

I have used Word for years for both personal use and work. I can do everything from use mail merge to basic things like writing a document or creating a resume.

Networking (Computer)

I am good with networking home computers from personal experience at home as well as a class at Solano College. Specifically, if you need help with setting up a wireless network for your house, I would be perfect for the job.

Public Speaking

I just finished taking a public speaking class at Solano College and can teach you all the basics on public speaking, like getting over your fear of speaking as well as things like hand gestures and how to stand.

Reading

I have been reading books for years both in and out of school and am good at teaching not only how to read but also reading comprehension.

Soccer

I played soccer for 10 years. On top of that, I have been a soccer referee for 3 years. I can teach you anything you need to know about soccer, whether it's mechanics or rules of the game.

Visual Basic

I have been using Visual Basic for the last few years and am fairly proficient in the language. I have taken a basic class on the language and the rest I've figured out on my own.

Vocabulary

I have read many books over the years and have gained a great vocabulary of words. I can tutor up through a high school level of vocabulary.

Writing

I have taken English classes throughout high school and now into college and am good at helping people with writing essays. From basic sentence structure to MLA format, I have a solid knowledge of writing.
