Hello! My name is Nick and I am in the process of getting my multiple subject teaching credential. Right now, I am student teaching at an elementary school. I have also worked with high school students as a substitute. Last year I was an aide in a special education classroom. I have also worked as a one-on-one aide with a middle schooler and a fifth-grader.
Teaching is in my blood. My mother is a retired high school math teacher, and my uncle is a professor at the local junior college. What I enjoy most about teaching is seeing the expression of a child's face when something clicks, and all of a sudden, they understand a concept. Working as a tutor provides the opportunity to work with a student one-on-one and help them get to that "Ah Ha" moment.
In terms of qualification, I have passed all of my subject matter tests as well as the teaching literacy test. I have also taken classes as part of my teacher training to aide in the identification and resolution of individual needs. When working with an entire class, it is often difficult to differentiate the content for every student. I believe, however, that as a tutor I can bridge that gap, making content more comprehensible and engaging.
