I earned a BA in Mathematics in 1994. I also served as Assistant Scoutmaster & Den Leader for the Boy Scouts of America. I come from a family of teachers: my mother, grandmother, brother, and two sisters-in-law.
Math can be fun! Math can be "real"! It doesn't need to be by rote, and it doesn't need to intimidate or confuse. My 5th grade teacher broke it down for me, and my hope is to pay that forward.
I have tutored and taught skills since I was 14. I love to see how a student can see for the first time how math isn't drudgery, and how it is indeed applicable life skill.
My attention to detail provides a strong foundation for grammar and proofreading. I can pick out a misspelling within seconds of seeing a paragraph. Grammar and spelling rules are like a puzzle, and with the right "borders", students can fill in the "pieces".
