To all parents and students,
My goal in tutoring is ultimately to help the student succeed. Throughout my high school years, I tutored several students in various subjects. I find using my knowledge to help others very rewarding! I tutor multiple subjects including Biology, Anatomy, Zoology, English; language, speech, test prep, SAT study skills, ACT study skills, K-6 general studies, and many more! I took honors classes throughout high school, including honors English and AP biology. I'm very qualified to help your student learn, succeed, and have fun while learning! I am a member of the National Honor Society of High School Scholars as well as a member of National Honor Society. I will be attending Cerro Coso Community College this fall in pursuit of a nursing degree.
Thank you for taking interest in my tutoring services!
I took anatomy during my junior year of high school, and will be taking a college anatomy class this fall. I received an A in my anatomy class during high school, and I believe I will do well this fall.
I took honors biology my freshman year of high school, chemistry my sophomore year, anatomy, zoology, and AP biology my junior year. I tutored several students in biology during my high school career.
I took science all throughout elementary, middle school, and high school. I placed very high on my AP biology score, and science is one of my favorite subjects. I tutored several students in elementary as well as high school science during my senior year of high school.
I was enrolled in honors English classes all four years of high school. I placed very high on my SAT writing and SAT reading exams. I will be taking English 101 in the fall of this year, and have tutored students in English.
Literature, along with Biology, is one of my favorite subjects. I read on a daily basis, mostly criminology and murder mystery books. I enjoy tutoring literature mostly because its a wonderful subject and I have a vast knowledge of the subject.
I have used Microsoft Word for many years. I have written numerous essays using the program. I feel very comfortable with using the program, and have used most of the available applications in the program.
I tutored phonics throughout high school. Phonics is a part of elementary education, and was a part of several lesson plans. I usually tutored in phonics while tutoring English subjects. Since phonics works on allowing the child to make a connection between the sound of the word and how the word is spelled, I often used flash cards while tutoring. If children can sound the words out that they don't understand, they most likely will be able to decode the word.
A part of tutoring is proofreading. I tutored all four years of my high school career, and have proofread articles, paragraphs, essays, documents, etc. Proofreading is something I succeed at, and feel comfortable doing.
Reading, along with grammar, was a huge part of honors English. During my four years of high school I read numerous novels, articles, essays, and journal entries. Along with reading, I learned how to annotate, analyze, and comprehend different writing samples.
I played softball for several years, including on my high school team. I feel like I could assist students in learning about softball because of my experience as a player.
I have taken several classes centered around vocabulary. Anatomy, zoology, and medical terminology have all prepared me for a position in tutoring vocabulary. I have found that students respond to vocabulary when using flashcards.
