I am excited at the opportunity of taking an active role mentoring, teaching and transforming the development of students, providing the world with excellent, knowledgeable citizens. My talent lies in relating and helping people become the best they can be. I am a definite instigator; motivating people to learn and grow, inspiring them to take a step outside the box, engaging them in their learning experiences and preparing them to become lifelong learners and leaders. It does not matter the age or culture or ethnicity of the person; I relate to all peoples and enjoy sharing, knowing, teaching and learning from them.
I have spent the past 11 years within different capacities in the field of education and although I am proficient at managing, I prefer teaching. I have taught second and third grade students in a No Child Left Behind program when I was asked to be the Program Coordinator. I supervised 25 teachers, assisting parents, the school psychologist and the principal. Here I assisted teachers and the school psychiatrist developing behavioral goals, modifying class content, providing parents with appropriate resource information and collaborating with teachers on teaching methods. I have also tutored a high school foreign exchange student and tutored and aided a special needs high school student. Currently, working at the University of California at Berkeley, I interact with students on a daily basis and work closely with them.
I believe in setting high expectations for students, engaging them to look at issues in a variety of ways, building good ethical, inter-cultural qualities and confidence that will benefit their community. I take pride in presenting material(s) in an enthusiastic manner that will instill a hunger to continue to learn and provide a distinct learning environment. My experiences and education in entrepreneurship, business ethics, marketing research, communication and global management will be an asset to any instructional organization. And since two of my degrees were acquired online I am aware of what makes a successful online instructor. The subjects I most enjoy teaching are writing/composition, history (both European, World and U.S. as well as art), art appreciation, and I enjoy counseling students as well.
I look forward to working with you.
