Teaching and tutoring elementary/middle school students for nearly thirty years have been truly
inspiring and rewarding!

I possess a California Standard Teaching Life Credential K-9 and a Masters Degree in School Counseling.
I hold certificates in conflict Resolution and mediation. The subjects I taught and tutored in elementary/
middle school were reading, language arts, writing, and study skills. I am also trained in teaching phonemic
awareness. My expertise is also in teaching and tutoring "at risk" students. In many instances, it is necessary to modify academic assignments so that students can become successful in mastering concepts or skills.

I am very familiar with the California and new Common Core Standards. And, it is important to empower
students with strategies to accomplish their academic success.

Elementary (K-6th)

With my California Standard Teaching Life Credenital K-9, I am licensed and certified to teach all academic subjects in elementary/middle school K-6. The main subjects I will focus on for tutoring are reading, language arts, and phonemic awareness. If necessary, tutoring will also be offered to students in social studies.

Phonics

With my California Standard Teaching Life Credential K-9, I am licensed and certified to teach phonics or phonemic awareness. I am trained to teach various phonetic strategies to strengthen a student's reading fluency.

Study Skills

With almost thirty years of teaching, I am qualified, licensed, and certified to tutor study skills. I possess a California Standard Teaching Life Credential, K-9. Besides teaching study skills or study strategies in elementary school, I taught a study skills course in middle school for ten years. Students will be able to strengthen their organization, time management, and note taking skills.
