Based on my professional skills and experience in orchestrating, conducting, performing and teaching, I am confident that I would be a favorable addition to your music education.

My educational background includes a Single Subject Teaching Credential, Bachelor and Masters Degree in classical and jazz studies. My expertise and skills as an arranger/orchestrator have contributed to the sales of several gold and platinum records. My recording achievements has qualified me to participate in the Grammy selection process for the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. As an educator I have produced outcomes of first place awards with superior ratings in instrumental music festival/competitions local and state wide.

In 2003 I established Knights of Music Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization to provide music literacy after school to children attending public elementary schools that do not provide instrumental music as part of their curriculum.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you. Thank you.

Sincerely,
David

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. Ear Training

Scales and interval exercises that encompasses solfeggio, sight read singing and identifying piano pitches through vocalization.
I have had four years of study in solfege, ear training and 30 years of experience in the recording industry orchestrating, arranging (instrumental & choral music), conducting and producing record album projects for major record labels. I am currently music director at Marina Del Rey Performing Arts Magnet MS.

Flute

I have a current California Teaching Credential in Instrumental Music; a Masters degree in Music with a flute Major in classical and jazz studies from the California Institute of the Arts. I've performed with the Santa Monica and Burbank Symphony and commercial recordings for major record labels. As a featured artist on flute I recorded a smooth jazz CD entitled "Shangri-la" on the Jazzer Inc. label in 2007.
Additionally I've given private flute instructions for over 10 years.

Music Theory

I have a Masters of music degree from the California Institute of the Arts. My curriculum encompassed several years of orchestration, piano, harmony, solfeggio, form & analysis, conducting and flute as my major instrument of study (classical and jazz). Included in my instrumental music teaching for LAUSD are music fundamentals and music theory.
