Elementary (K-6th)

I possess well-rounded skills when it comes to teaching K-6th grades and have a wealth of experience doing so. I provide a collaborative and enjoyable learning experience for students, especially those who need help focusing/gaining more efficiency in their work habits. I also try to fill lessons with things and subjects they are interested in to help keep them engaged.

Elementary Math

I have a wealth of experience teaching basic math skills and often use my students' individual interest as subjects for my lessons I design in order to keep them engaged.

English

I enjoy helping others with English at every level, from basic reading comprehension, to college-level English classes.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in English and American Literature from New York University in 2010.

Literature

I enjoy sharing my love of literature with my students while helping them in the areas where they may be struggling. I am comfortable teaching various levels from students under age 10, all the way up to college-level students.

I enjoy helping students of any and every level improve their reading skills. I help to not only improve vocabulary and basic word recognition skills, but I also put a premium on improving reading comprehension.

SAT Math

I have a wealth of experience teaching the math included in the Math portion of the SAT test. Not only can I teach every detail behind solving each question, but I can also present useful shortcuts and strategies that can will help drastically improve efficiency while taking the test. Part of my approach includes introducing concepts and practice materials developed by various SAT prep groups/companies.

SSAT

As someone who actually took this test to get into high school, I understand the difficulties and pressures of taking this seemingly daunting standardized test. I will not only teach technical ways in which to take on individual questions on this test, but also provide the tips and tricks necessary to succeed with standardized tests both now and in the future.

Study Skills

Much of my work as an in-home tutor revolves around improving the overall study skills of my students in order to better motivate them to do their work outside of our time together. By getting to know each student on a more personal level, I am able to address their concerns and their issues that may be hampering their studying. I have experience working to help motivate students from 6-year-olds, to high school students who need to find a way to personally manage all their activities and subjects.

Vocabulary

My approach to teaching vocabulary does not simply involve learning the meanings of words, but rather learning how to use words effectively in communication. I do teach basic techniques to improve one's vocabulary for the sake of vocabulary tests, but I also specialize in teaching vocabulary for writing or reading skill development.
