My name is Paolo and and my ultimate goal in life is pretty simple: To help others achieve their full potential.
In me, you can expect a friendly, encouraging, and positive teacher who adapts quickly to different learning styles and personalities while encouraging students to push themselves beyond their own expectations and limits. As a writing specialist, I believe that developing communication skills is essential for any kind of work and just life in general. I enjoy helping students of all ages improve their confidence in writing & other forms of communication. For every student I teach, in any subject, I ensure that he/she is prepared to confidently share what he/she knows and has learned as precisely and as eloquently as possible. I've worked 1-on-1 with a wide variety of people including children with special needs, college students, and even accountants and small business owners. I cherish every opportunity to work with students of any and all ages and backgrounds. My tutoring experience in the classroom involves everything from tutoring 2nd graders in a Sunday school, to after school physics tutoring at the high school level. I also possess experience with 1-on-1, in-home tutoring for students grades K-12 primarily teaching math (everything from basics all the way up to algebra and geometry) and English Language Arts. My experience teaching writing development mainly consists of helping individuals(primarily college students) with everything from developing basic writing skills like correct punctuation use and sentence development, to helping with the development of a personal voice and style in writing.
My approach to teaching involves a lot of communication to that I may quickly gain insight into the ways in which my students learn and the areas in which they may need help. I also look to get to know my students' interests both inside and outside of the academic world so that I may better relate to them and keep our lessons filled with topics that spark their interests and invite them to learn and grow. For example, when teaching a 5th grader for the first time, I listen for any grammatical errors in their speech as well as their writing so that we may begin to build their well-rounded communication skills. Taking a genuine interest in my students' goals and hobbies, as well as often inserting these interests into our lessons, allows me to keep each student motivated and focused on both the task at hand, and their long-term goals. For example, when helping a college chemistry or math major develop his/her writing style, he or she may seem frustrated and disinterested in learning to write more effectively. Reminding them that writing better will help them in the long-run as well as filling writing lessons with topics that interest them, helps me to keep my students motivated and engaged at any level. As I mentioned in my first sentence, my ultimate goal in life involves helping other reach goals not even they knew they could reach. That being said, my students, their ability to learn, and most importantly, their emotional wellness both within, and outside the learning environment, mean everything to me. I look forward to being a resource of both knowledge and support for anything my students may need. Thank you, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.
