Hello and welcome to my WyzAnt tutoring profile! Thank you for considering me as a potential tutor for your academic needs. Here is a little about me:
While earning my degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from the University of Southern California, math became a crucial part of my life. I soon discovered that I was not only good with math, but I was even better at helping others with it.
I began tutoring for a family friend who was struggling in pre-algebra. This student had been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyper-active Disorder and had tried to get help through three tutors before me, none of whom had any success. After a short while, it was obvious that the student really benefited from our sessions and I realized how much I enjoyed tutoring. Soon after I began tutoring his classmates, and classmates of classmates. Since then I have worked for two tutoring companies and now, six years later, I have tutored hundreds of students (ages 4 to 27) in subjects ranging from basic math to calculus.
There are a number of things about me that differentiate me from the many other qualified tutors that are out there. I like to think that I have seen it all in tutoring. I've helped countless students at all levels with various goals. I have worked with students with diagnosed learning disabilities, and students who are brilliant mathematicians who just needed a little extra push to bring them to their full potential. I strongly believe that regardless of what the student's goals are, there is no goal that can't be accomplished as long as the student does not quit. Each one of us can learn any type of math as long as we believe we can do it and we work hard at learning it. Math is just like any other challenge you take on; You must practice to get good at it. I understand that everyone learns in different ways which means that a good tutor is flexible to all learning styles. Perhaps most importantly, my patience is never-ending. Oftentimes there are issues beyond what is in the text book. It can be a matter of motivating a student to want to succeed or maybe the student struggles with his or her confidence and that is what leads to poor test results. Whatever the issue is, it can be overcome with the right help.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I wish you the best of luck in finding the right tutor!
