I have taught Spanish to students from K - 12 in three continents. (USA, South America and Europe.) I am certified in Spanish K - 12 from the state of Virginia. I have taught ESL in corporate and formal /informal school settings in Europe and South America. I was a tutor for several Spanish students completing their distance learning /international bilingual MBAS in Madrid. I tutored consultants, managers and accountants for the Cambridge Certificate and TOEFL.

I substituted for the Department Chair at Chadwick School (Honors and AP) in 2008 and taught a special intro Spanish course at Rolling Hills Prep Renaissance School based on Linda Mood Bell's Seeing Stars and Phonemic methodologies. (I certified in Linda Mood Bell in 2009.)

In Madrid I worked with a student exchange agency to place Spanish students in English and American schools abroad. I lived in Madrid for seven years and studied at the University of Salamanca in 1984. I taught resource Spanish to 4th and 5th graders at the FDR American School in Lima Peru for two years. I also taught corporate ESL classes at Pacific University in Lima, Per in 1992.

I completed Culinary arts school in Europe and South America and lived in immersion for more than 15 years. Although I am an American citizen, I am fluent in reading, writing, speaking and listening Spanish. Presently I am writing for the Children's Literary Institute of CT in English and tutoring from my home. I have also sold a few photographs and am currently pursuing free - lance writing and publishing.

My two sons have done well in California public schools. The eldest completed AP5 Spanish and tested out of introductory Spanish as a college freshman. My youngest son is still a student and is currently enrolled in Spanish One here in state.

I use a variety of methods, including the proficiency method, direct method, TPR, computer support and phonemic awareness methods. I was trained in both Peru and Europe in TESOL and use natural as well as guided methods. My approach is always sensory integrated and accommodates special education learners very easily. I use an overlapping spiraling curriculum to facilitate adequate repetition for long term and short term memory for concepts and vocabulary.

I have extensive experience with guided reading methods and have used old as well as modern secondary school textbooks successfully. My scope is defined normally by students' needs and I plan my lessons based on California curriculum goals and standards.

I also completed primary education curriculum and instruction, arts education and self - esteem at UCLA with a 4.0 in 2005. Presently I teach and integrated art/science and math extra - curricular enrichment projects to students K - 5 in San Pedro one day a week.

Science can be fun and is best learned hands-on with labs and application.

Far too few elementary classroom science teachers have students do experiments daily in class.

I am a sensory teacher so science with me is always as entertaining as it is educational.
