My favorite graduate math professor used to say, "All this confusion and complexity can be cleared up with ONE SIMPLE EXAMPLE!" He was right. I try to give as many examples as possible in my tutoring so that the theory can be learned intuitively and easily.

I've been tutoring math and statistics since I was in high school. I won the mathematics award for best high school math student, and I helped several friends with their precalculus, including the class valedictorian. As a freshman in college, I began working at a "Math Learning Center" at a local Community College. This job entailed tutoring math and administering math tests to students. That's when I realized how much I liked tutoring. Later, at the University of Virginia, I taught probability and statistics while in graduate school, and I tutored math and graded calculus homework as an undergraduate.

Since college, I've worked as a software engineer at TRW/Northrop Grumman and as a cryptologic mathematician for the National Security Agency. Both those jobs involved some teaching of math, statistics, and computer science. Now, I'm teaching math, statistics, and calculus at ITT-Tech and El Camino Community College.
