By way of introduction, I have been teaching elementary and adult education for the past twelve years. As such, I have received Teacher of the Year, which is an award that one receives by their peers. As a tutor, I have home schooled, home and hospital schooled, and have performed many short, directed intercession sessions that have increased student achievement proven by test scores.
Training and teaching is my natural talent and I'm skilled at creating lesson plans based on student needs. I currently teach gifted education and have many strategies to motivate students to understand as I am very well aware of the fact that one size does not fit all.
I am easy to get along with, have a sense of humor and make learning fun. I have many apps on my iPod Touch, iPad and MacBook Pro that I easily incorporate into my tutoring lesson plan. I have just completed coursework to earn my Certificate that qualifies me to teach online.

I am qualified to tutor the CBEST because I have studied for and passed the CBEST. I have been teaching for twelve years and have had many student teachers and students in the credential program teach and observe in my classroom. There was a time when I tutored students to pass the CBEST. Fortunately, both students were successful. In my household, I have tutored two of my adult children who successfully passed the CBEST. Prior to taking the CBEST, I prepared by taking a test prep class that was eight weeks long. I know how to prepare for and pass the CBEST. I know I can make others successful as I do have a track record.
In my experience as a classroom teacher, a tutor and a home/hospital tutor, I have taught students who are dyslexic. I know that they often suffer with organization, memory skills and focus. I have successfully used strategies that include a multi sensory approach. Examples are writing note cards that they can read and hold, using sand trays for letters, words and pictures. I am very sure to go slowly and to be repetitive. Directions and homework are actually written on the assignment to foster organization. Most importantly, through my teaching methods, which also include games, apps on my electronic devices and fun activities, I am confident that I can build self-awareness, self- esteem as well as cognitive skills.

I hold a State of California Highly Qualified teaching Credential. This credential is earned because of coursework completed in teaching methods that are designed for students who are learning English, and do not have English as their first language.
Additionally, I have taught over the past twelve years. During this time, I have successfully home schooled, tutored and classroom taught English to numerous students who either did not speak English at all or were very limited in their English Language Arts skills.
Phonics is step one in teaching a child to read. It is the relationship between letters, digraphs, blends, chunking and spelling. This helps children develop the sound-letter relationship which leads to sounding out, decoding and reading fluently.
As a credentialed teacher of grades K - 12, teaching study skills and making students aware of when and how to use them has been the challenge I have conquered. My students discover how much easier school can be when they master time management, organizing papers, completing homework, reading texts books, note taking, test taking, writing research papers and goal setting. I apply this across all content areas.
