Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have completed ELEMENTARY ALGEBRA (ALGEBRA 1) with a grade of A at the university and I have taught/tutored many high school and college students during the past 12 years.
I taught many math courses including algebra 1 to many students (9-12 GRADES) at THE CHAFFEY SCHOOL DISTRICT, as a long term substitute math teacher (MARCH TO AUGUST 2006).
I have also assisted many college students with their math studies when I worked as a math tutor at THE MATH SUCCESS CENTER AT CHAFFEY COLLEGE (SEPTEMBER 2004 TO MARCH 2006).
During my teaching/tutoring experience I found out that many students lack a solid foundation and understanding of the math concepts necessary for success in their math courses. So I make sure that they do get the basics right before anything else.

Algebra 2

I have completed courses in INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA and in COLLEGE ALGEBRA with straight As during my university studies.

I have also taught/tutored many high school and college students in these subjects during the past 12 years.

What I found out is that most students experience difficulties in their math studies because they lack a solid math foundation and a complete understanding of the basic math concepts covered in these courses.

Yet these concepts and ideas form the basis upon which most advance math courses are built. That is the reason I make sure that the students I assist get the basics and learn the steps necessary to solve any math problem and succeed.

Geometry

I have completed academic courses in geometry with a grade of A during my university studies.
I have also taught/tutored the subject to many high school and college students for the last 12 years.

What I found out, by assisting so many students, is that a lot of them experience difficulties in geometry because they never got a solid foundation and they never understood the basic geometric concepts and ideas upon which the whole subject is built.

That's why I make sure that the students I assist master the basics and acquire the skills necessary to succeed as soon as possible.

Linear Algebra

I have completed Linear Algebra courses in the university with a grade of B.
Since I have two degrees - one in Economics and the other in Production and Operations Management - I completed a lot of courses in Operations Research/Management Science in which Linear Algebra concepts and ideas are used to solve many complex business problems (Linear Programming, Transportation Problem, Network Analysis etc).
I have also tutored many students in these subjects during the last 12 years.

Prealgebra

I have completed courses in Basic Mathematical Skills, Pre-Algebra and Modern Mathematics with straight As at the university. I have also taught/tutored these subjects to many high school and college students for the last 12 years. My long experience showed me that many students experiencing difficulties in their math studies, do, because they never understood and mastered the basic concepts and skills presented in these math courses.

Yet, these concepts and ideas form the basis upon which all advance math is built. I also found out, working as a Production Manager for more than 15 years, that many people entering the business world lack these important skills. So I make sure that the students I have the privilege to assist, get the basic math skills necessary to succeed.

Precalculus

I have completed academic courses in precalculus during my university studies.

Having also completed the sequence of calculus courses which followed, I saw the importance of having taken and mastered this course. Since precalculus is a review of basic math, prealgebra, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, it contains an overwhelming amount of information and students taking it are sometimes frustrated and need help.

I have tutored/taught this course to many high school and college students during the past 12 years with great success because I make sure that they completely master and understand the basics before anything else.

SAT Math

I am very familiar with the math requirements of the SAT since I have assisted many high school students in preparing for the test during the past ten years.

Trigonometry

I have completed academic courses in Trigonometry at the University with a grade of "A". I have also tutored Trigonometry to many high school and college students during the past 12 years.
