I bring to the table extensive experience in tutoring children of all ages, as well as providing academic support for college and graduate students. I’ve served for 6 years, at the elementary school level, in a tutoring support role, helping children individually and in small groups with Reading, Language Arts, and Math. I've also home schooled my own son throughout Middle School, so I am familiar with state standards and expectations at each grade level, as well as with the difficulties children can face in the core academic areas.
I have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Rutgers, an MBA from Pepperdine, and have taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, so I am extremely experienced in both writing and reviewing college and graduate level academic papers. I also worked for many years in a corporate environment, where I was responsible for preparing and editing numerous research reports and proposals. I am currently an educational consultant, working with students of all ages in the areas of study skills, language arts, writing, and math. I am also completing my graduate certificate in College Counseling, and have ongoing experience working with high school students in the areas of college search, applications, and admission essays, and with college and graduate students developing and editing research papers.
My background in Cognitive Psychology has helped me to understand differences in learning styles, and I therefore tailor my teaching to the modality that best suits the individual. I believe strongly in the power of positive reinforcement, and find reward in helping students find joy in mastering skills they once thought too difficult. I love children of all ages and am confident I can help you or your child, make improvements in academic performance.
