I am a Columbia University graduate with over 13 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I taught English, Spanish and French to 6th-12th graders at the Independent Learning School in San Francisco. While there, I also mentored students and worked with them one-on-one to improve their grades in history, science, and math. I also taught SAT and SSAT Prep to high school and junior high school students at the Katherine Branson School in Marin County. I also taught ESL to adults of all ages from many different countries (including Cambodia, Chile and Japan) with great success.
I've tutored now for over 8 years now with emphasis in English, Writing and Composition, SAT Verbal, SAT Grammar & Essay, SAT Reading, ACT Reading & English, ESL/ESOL and TOEFL prep, Spanish, French, and math (elementary math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra and SAT Prep math). I also am able to do online sessions for students who prefer that.
I specialize in teaching study skills that help students build confidence in their subject, learn test-taking abilities, and overcome their fear in test situations. I believe everyone can be successful, no matter how challenging the subject might be. I have a track record of helping students improve their reading, writing, and grammar so that they can better express themselves to teachers, potential employers, and universities.
I've helped students go from getting Cs and Ds on their tests to an getting an A in as little as 2 or 3 tutoring sessions.
Whatever the grade level or current aptitude of the student, I focus on the specific needs of my students. I have a very personalized approach to tutoring. Above all, I am patient and committed to your child's (or your) success.
I look forward to helping you or your child be successful!
