I graduated from California Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering
. I am now doing my graduate studies at Purdue University, Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering. I am interested in control theory and orbital dynamics, basically exploring new ways to get a spacecraft from Earth to other places in the solar system.
I tutor both high school and college level mathematics
(please see below for a complete list*). Regardless of subject, there are two components for excelling at it: passion and method. I have had the privilege of working on the current Mars rover Curiosity’s landing site safety evaluation at JPL, NASA. I have seen firsthand that the love of knowing is what drives scientists and engineers alike to achieve such a colossal feat. I try to kindle such passion by giving presentations on aerospace at my middle school and I would like to do the same with the students I tutor.
Equally important is the method of learning. Based on my experience in both college and industry, I know that critical thinking skill is highly regarded. While rogue memorization and the traditional ‘plug and chug’ method might serve in high school, they will be superseded by creative problem solving. For me, it is not just about helping my students to get good grades in their current classes, it is also about giving them a head start, a set of skills that that they can rely upon to get them through challenges later on.
I look forward to helping you.
